Meet Hilary

Hilary Lex

Visual Storyteller | Documentary Photographer | World Traveller

Encouraging you to see the world a little differently through the lens of documentary photography, I’ve always had a special place in my heart for Nepal.

Travel is my first love, and photography is how I process it all. I first realized the value of my documentary photography back in 2020, when I embarked on a Storytelling School with Photographers Without Borders in India. It’s been my greatest discovery, helping me let the world move through me instead of me moving through the world. I met Amber by trekking with him in Nepal in 2017, and we stayed in touch. In 2019, I took a chance by reaching out to him, asking him to join one of his treks as a trip photographer, and he agreed!

While I’ve traveled to 23 countries, Nepal will always have my heart. I find myself returning to its mountains again and again. It could be the drama of the rugged landscape or the deep spiritual undercurrents, but I continue to walk away with more learnings. As we trek across its ancient valleys and cities, I can’t wait for you to experience its richness and let this beautiful country change you – body and soul.

Why Nepal?

Something about it feels like home.

Nepal is one of my favorite places in the world. It’s the culture, the mountains, the people. It’s the deep-rooted spiritual undercurrent that’s impossible to ignore. I’ve traveled to Nepal four times, and each time it checks a new box for me. Now I’m ready to bring you along with me!

When you first visit the Nepalese Himalaya and its people, you learn why it’s such an eternally special place for lovers of the mountains and the outdoors. The Nepal Flagship Trip has been meticulously crafted to engage your body and soul through adventure and introspection. We intentionally seek local experiences, try new cuisines, trek on paths less traveled, and get curious about who we are outside of the context of what’s known.

This trip is for folks looking to shake things up, challenge themselves and try something radically different. It’s for those who want to travel with intention and be good stewards of the earth and our fellow humans across the globe. It’s for those who want to be still a little longer and learn something new about themselves.

“Hilary’s expert guidance and planning started before the trip began with a detailed packing list of everything we’d need for our trip, and continued with an itinerary that included a good mix of landmark spots as well as spots off the beaten path.”

“Hilary’s expert guidance and planning started before the trip began with a detailed packing list of everything we’d need for our trip, and continued with an itinerary that included a good mix of landmark spots as well as spots off the beaten path. I came back inspired, adventured and with a collection of professional photos that I look back on often. I’ve never had professional photos to bring home with me on a trip, and I’ve learned that some trips are so special, they’re worthy of more than my amateur iPhone skills. 🤣 I can’t wait for my next trip with Hilary.”

“When I think of traveling, I couldn't ask for a better person to travel with than Hilary! I'm not the type to follow someone blindly into a trip in which I've done zero research, but Hilary makes it so easy.”

“When I think of traveling, I couldn't ask for a better person to travel with than Hilary! I'm not the type to follow someone blindly into a trip in which I've done zero research, but Hilary makes it so easy. And it’s comforting knowing everything is going to be taken care of which really takes the stress out of traveling knowing I can trust her to lead the way! PLUS on top of that Hilary always seems to capture our entire journey so perfectly through her breathtaking photography. Thank you for all that you do! Until next time!”

Worthwhile Memories

But First, FAQs

“frequently asked questions”

How Many People Are On Your Trips?

x

We like to keep our trips small and intimate. We want you to be able to get to know your fellow travelers more deeply (whether friends, family or new acquaintances) and we want to get to know you! For this reason, we keep our trips to a maximum of 8 guests, plus staff.

Are There Any Age Restrictions?

x

All are welcome but our trips are geared towards adults. If you’re looking to plan or do the trip with your family, let’s talk about designing a custom itinerary that will accommodate everyone!

How Much Free Time Will I Have?

x

We typically build in one free or rest day on each trip itinerary. Half your evenings or afternoons are typically also free for you to explore or rest. Our standard trip will include trekking, hiking or biking in the mornings and the first part of the afternoons with the remainder of the day left for resting, exploring the mountain villages or learning about the local culture and customs.

How Physically Demanding Are Your Trips?

x

Depending on the trip, hikes are moderately challenging to difficult. We’ll do multi-day treks lasting between 3-8 days in elevations that range from 6,000-18,000 feet and we’ll typically be hiking about 4-8 miles per day. If you do not hike regularly at home, we recommend training for this trip by doing some kind of cardiovascular activity a few days a week at a minimum. Those with injuries or other health concerns should consult their doctor.

Based on what you’re interested in and looking to do, we can hone in on the best trip for you. Keep in mind that porters will carry the majority of our gear, so you will only carry a small day pack while on any trek. We can also connect you with our trip doc who can complete a risk assessment with you to ensure you’re in the right physical condition for the respective demands of the trip.

What’s Your Deposit and Cancellation Policy?

x

A non-refundable $850 deposit is due at the time of registration. The deposit is the only thing that secures your spot! The full trip cost is due 45 days prior to the itinerary start date.
-Cancel more than 45 days prior to start date: full refund minus the $850 deposit
-Cancel less than 45 days prior to start date: no refund unless we can fill your spot, then full refund minus the $850 deposit.
We recommend taking out an all-inclusive travel insurance policy so you are protected in case of anything. If you need to cancel but want to come on a different trip in the same calendar year, we can apply your deposit to another trip.
